The Wilwood W6A 6-POT brake caliper features a robust design with six pistons, providing enhanced braking force and improved heat dissipation. It has bore sizes of 1.62 inches and two pistons with 1.12 inches each, allowing for balanced and efficient clamping pressure. The caliper is designed for left-hand rear mounting, making it suitable for specific vehicle configurations. It accommodates a disc width of 1.25 inches, ensuring compatibility with moderately sized brake rotors. Typically constructed from high-strength materials such as forged aluminum, this caliper offers durability and resistance to corrosion. The Wilwood W6A is commonly used in performance and racing applications where reliable stopping power and consistent brake feel are essential. Its design supports effective heat management and reduced brake fade during demanding driving conditions.
W6A Radial Mount The W6A forged six piston caliper delivers heavy duty
stopping power for the road or track.
The caliper incorporates race technology into a body design with
widespread adaptability. Radial mounting, two options for piston volume,
and a rotor diameter ranging from 12.19" to 14.25" give this caliper the
versatility necessary to suit all types of heavy weight braking
requirements.
The W6A body is the product of FEA computer design and stress flow
forging technology. FEA technology allows the designer to test the
prototype in a computer environment to determine the optimal structural
design within the dimensional parameters of the component. Stress flow
forging produces a part with the internal grain structure of the metal
aligned in the direction of the flow of the body contour. The results
are a caliper with superior clamping efficiency and ultimate strength
against fatigue, stresses, and distortion under load
This caliper generates big brake clamping force with six differential
bore stainless steel pistons. Stainless steel is used for its high
resistance to corrosion and low thermal conductivity that reduces the
heat transfer from the pads. The differential bore pattern balances pad
loading to help maintain even pad wear. High temperature bore seals
provide long service life and maintain their resilience to provide
positive piston retraction on release. Two options for overall piston
volume make it simple to match the calipers with master cylinder output
and rear caliper size for correct bias proportioning.
